Citizen scientists conducting real scientific research in Acadia National Park
get to know...THE RESEARCH PROJECTWe need your help with scientific research about the bugs that live in Acadia! We want to learn how the number and types of insects in Acadia changes over the summer. We need to know this to understand the role different insects play as food for birds, bats and many other critters. This important work will help us understand how food webs will respond to climate change.

get to know...THE RESEARCHERSDr. Allyson Jackson is a field biologist who has been working with birds for 11 years now. She more recently got interested in bugs - first because of how important they are as bird food and now because they are just interesting on their own!
She teaches Environmental Studies at Purchase College in New York and is bringing a dedicated crew of undergraduates to help with this research project. We will be keeping a chronicle of our summer on our blog and social media accounts. |
get to know...THE STUDY SITESWe have selected four distinct study sites that offer us interesting data on the ecology of Acadia National Park. We hope you get the research bug (pun intended...) and come out for sampling days at multiple sites.

get to know...WHAT TO EXPECTYou've got an interest and plenty of enthusiasm... but what exactly are you signing up to do? What should you bring? We have a list of things to remember as you put on your citizen scientist hat (or boots) for a day.
