Citizen scientists conducting real scientific research in Acadia National Park
Thanks to all the citizen scientists who helped with this project so far! Field work was completed in 2018 but we will continue to update this website with results as we to work through the data
get to know...THE RESEARCH PROJECTWe want to learn how the number and types of insects in Acadia changes over the summer. We need to know this to understand the role different insects play as food for birds, bats and many other critters. Click the links below to find out more about the project:

get to know...THE RESEARCHERSDr. Allyson Jackson is a field biologist who has been working with birds for 13 years now. She more recently got interested in bugs - first because of how important they are as bird food and now because they are just interesting on their own!
She teaches Environmental Studies at Purchase College in New York and brought a dedicated crew of undergraduates to help with this research project. Find out more about Allyson's research or read the blogs about the Acadia Bug Project: |
get to know...THE STUDY SITESWe have selected four distinct study sites that offer us interesting data on the ecology of Acadia National Park.
